VFW's Patriot's Pen Youth Essay Contest Winners

Grass Lake School Local Winners of VFW Essay Contest!

Each year the VFW holds an Essay Contest to promote good citizenship and foster patriotism. Each year, more than 130,000 students in grades 6-8 enter the Patriot's Pen youth essay contest. Monetary prizes are awarded at the local and national levels.

Eighth graders at Grass Lake School submitted essays. The essay theme for 2017-2018 was "America's Gift to My Generation". Essays were 300-400 words in length and demonstrate extensive knowledge of the theme. This year, three GLS Eighth graders were awarded prizes:

1st Place: Sebastian Espinoza
2nd Place: Dykota Drije
3rd Place: Brett Brose

Sebastian Espinoza will go on to represent Grass Lake School in the Regional Awards banquet this Saturday night!

Congratulations to all the winners!
