Message from the
Grass Lake District 36
Interim Superintendent

Dear Families and Community Members of Grass Lake School District 36,

I hope that this letter finds you enjoying these remaining days of the summer break even as District 36 continues to prepare for your return!

Much is happening in and around Grass Lake 36. In addition to the ongoing extensive construction project on its new facility which is scheduled to open in August of 2018, District personnel have been working hard to ensure a smooth opening to the 2017-18 school year. Toward this end, maintenance personnel have been cleaning, waxing and generally shining up nearly every square inch of the existing school building. While these efforts were temporarily set back due to a recent flooding of the basement area, all systems appear to be “go,” for school to open on time and looking great on our first day of school for the children, Thursday, August 24, 2017.

In addition to this facility work, District administration continues to prepare for the opening of another school year relative to personnel and budget. Currently, the District is interviewing for several open positions, and happily, has visited with many excellent candidates.  Finally, administration is also busy developing a draft budget which will be presented to the Board of Education at its August 15, 2017, meeting.

Thank you for your ongoing support and interest in Grass Lake School District 36. We look forward to welcoming our youngest “community members” back on August 24, 2017, and to a wonderful 2017-18 school year. In the meantime, if you have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (847) 603-5111.
